๐ Municipal Fire Code Requirement
"Charcoal burners and other open flame devices shall not be operated on or within ten feet (3.05 m) of combustible construction."
Charcoal & Open Flame Clearance
Must remain at least 10 feet away from wooden siding, balconies, roof overhangs, or stairs. Never operate on wooden decks or directly under stilts.
Propane Grill Exception
Propane-fueled LP-gas grills are exempt from the strict 10-foot restriction under code guidelines, provided they are operated safely with proper ventilation.
Hot Ash Disposal
Charcoal embers remain dangerously hot for many hours. Never deposit uncooled ashes into plastic trash cans, dunes, or near combustible materials.
Extinguisher Preparedness
Keep a water hose or approved fire extinguisher nearby whenever operating charcoal burners or open-flame cooking equipment.
Beach Strand & Dunes Ban
Open fires and beach bonfires are strictly illegal. Violations carry municipal fines and enforcement by local police and courtesy patrols.
Fireworks Restriction
All pyrotechnics and fireworks with open flames or projectiles are prohibited island-wide (only state-permitted sparklers are allowed).
Recreational Fires Rule
Recreational fires, except those confined within containers manufactured specifically for such purpose, shall not be allowed.
